Annual healthcare visitors
USHAŞ’s TÜİK-based series reports 1,538,643 healthcare visitors in 2023, 1,506,442 in 2024 and 1,398,580 in 2025. Health-tourism revenue in 2025 was USD 3,022,452 thousand (about USD 3.02 billion). Visitor numbers are not procedure or surgery counts. Partial-year figures are excluded from this annual series.
What does 541 represent?
The Authorised Hospitals PDF linked from the Ministry’s 20 August 2026 update contains entries numbered 1 through 541. This is a count of hospital entries in that list. Medical centres, practices and other facilities have separate lists. It is not a count of all facilities or accredited hospitals; recheck current status before applying.
Hospital and physician capacity
The 2024 Health Statistics Yearbook reports 1,562 hospitals and 221,133 physicians across all sectors. The hospital total comprises 941 Ministry, 69 university and 552 private hospitals. The physician total is not a count of health-tourism-authorised doctors or members. Dentists are counted separately in the yearbook.
Authorisation and accreditation are different
Health-tourism authorisation permits an activity. Accreditation concerns assessment against particular standards. The Ministry’s 11 June 2026 notice describes TÜSKA accreditation or certification obligations for relevant facilities by 31 December 2026. A transition deadline does not mean that every listed hospital is already accredited.
Read the scope before comparing figures
A portal’s provider count may describe its registered members, while a yearbook figure may cover institutions nationwide. Physician numbers and the total healthcare workforce are not interchangeable. Before comparing, ask who is counted, for which period and by which source. These indicators cover different populations and periods; dividing them to calculate clinicians per visitor or health tourists per hospital would not provide a reliable measure.
What these figures do not tell you
A large visitor or institution count does not establish that a treatment is suitable for you. National capacity figures do not measure one clinician’s experience, a provider’s complication management or your likely outcome. Alongside scale, consider procedure-specific expertise, follow-up arrangements and a clear proposal. Questions about your own care require an individual assessment and verifiable provider information.
How to recheck before applying
Use the source links to open the Ministry’s current list and compare the provider’s full name, city and treatment address. A brand may have multiple branches, so its name alone is insufficient. Check any accreditation claim separately with the issuing body, including scope and validity. The source-check date records when we reviewed the information; it does not mean the figures cannot change. Use a newer official list whenever one has been published.
